Bartley Secondary Student Arrested for Allegedly Attacking Teacher with Penknife

SINGAPORE – April 28, 2025: A student from Bartley Secondary School has been arrested for allegedly injuring a male teacher with a penknife, according to official statements from the school and police.

Teacher Sent to Hospital, Now Recovering at Home

The incident occurred at around 12:25pm on Monday at 10 Jalan Bunga Rampai, the school’s address. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that it responded to a call for assistance and transported one individual to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

In a statement to the media, school principal Ms Britta Seet said the teacher received outpatient treatment and is currently recovering at home with medical leave.

“He has been given medical leave and is recovering well at home,” Ms Seet confirmed.

Student Arrested, Assisting with Investigations

The Singapore Police Force confirmed that a student has been arrested in relation to the incident and is currently assisting with investigations.

According to the school, the student has not returned to campus since the incident.

“We are in touch with the student and the student’s parents, and will continue to provide support to the student and affected staff,” added Ms Seet.

Support Measures in Place

The school emphasized that it is working closely with authorities and ensuring that counselling and support services are provided to all affected parties, including the injured teacher and school staff.

As investigations continue, Bartley Secondary School has not released further details on the student’s identity or the motive behind the incident.
