Space Partnerships Take Center Stage as Singapore Prepares to Launch National Space Agency

Singapore is strengthening its position as a regional space hub with a wave of strategic partnerships announced at the opening of Space Summit 2026. The event coincides with the country’s plan to officially launch its national space agency on April 1, marking a major milestone in Singapore’s space ambitions.

The newly announced collaborations span satellite-based climate monitoring, secure communications, next-generation connectivity, space security, and talent development, underscoring Singapore’s holistic approach to building a sustainable space ecosystem.

Satellite Partnerships to Advance Climate Monitoring and Carbon Measurement

One of the key highlights is a partnership between Singapore start-up Arkadiah Technology and Golden Agri-Resources, which will use satellite remote-sensing data to develop digital measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) tools for carbon quantification.

The initiative aims to improve the monitoring and protection of tropical forests by leveraging multi-modal satellite data, supporting more accurate carbon accounting and sustainability efforts.

Another major environmental collaboration involves NUS-CRISP and Singapore-based Kumi Analytics. This partnership will integrate satellite imagery with ground-based data to support carbon baselining and reporting for blue carbon ecosystems, including mangroves and seagrass meadows.

Secure Satellite Communications and Quantum Technology Collaborations

Secure satellite communications also featured prominently at Space Summit 2026. SGX-listed Addvalue Technologies and SpeQtral are set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore an integrated quantum key distribution (QKD) satellite solution.

SpeQtral, a Singapore-based quantum communications company spun out of the Centre for Quantum Technologies at the National University of Singapore, will work with Addvalue to assess satellite constellation designs, operational concepts, and service-oriented QKD solutions capable of real-time tasking and secure key establishment.

In a separate development, SpeQtral is also entering a strategic capital and business partnership with Japan’s SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation. The collaboration aims to accelerate the early commercial deployment of satellite-based quantum cryptography services, with a target timeline in the 2030s.

5G and 6G Non-Terrestrial Network Research in Singapore

To support next-generation connectivity, a consortium comprising Airbus, ST Engineering iDirect, Keysight Technologies, and MediaTek will sign an MoU to study, analyze, validate, and demonstrate 5G and 6G non-terrestrial network (NTN) solutions in Singapore.

The initiative will explore how satellite and terrestrial networks can be seamlessly integrated to deliver advanced connectivity for future digital infrastructure.

Space Security and Situational Awareness Initiatives

On the security front, space situational awareness company Digantara will collaborate with Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) under a new memorandum of understanding.

The partnership will focus on developing, testing, and evaluating software applications that combine space-based and ground-based data to track Singapore’s satellites more accurately. This effort is designed to support national space operations under the newly established national space agency.

Meanwhile, Australia-based Aetosky announced plans to establish its global headquarters in Singapore. From the city-state, Aetosky will develop and support sovereign, multi-domain situational awareness, digital twin, and decision-support systems for global clients, covering areas such as national security, maritime safety, disaster resilience, and critical infrastructure protection.

Workforce and Talent Development for Singapore’s Space Sector

Talent development remains a cornerstone of Singapore’s space strategy. Ngee Ann Polytechnic announced the launch of Singapore’s first Space Technology Specialisation at the polytechnic diploma level.

The cross-disciplinary programme is tailored for engineering students and will focus on space systems design, integration, and innovation projects inspired by real-world applications. The first student intake will begin this April.

In a separate education initiative, the School of Science and Technology, Singapore, and Thailand’s National Astronomy Research Institute will expand their collaboration to nurture space and science talent. The partnership includes teacher and student training programmes, access to robotic telescopes for student research, and community-driven astronomy exchanges.

Singapore Strengthens Its Role as a Regional Space Hub

With the launch of its national space agency and a growing network of international and local partnerships, Singapore is positioning itself as a leading space innovation and collaboration hub in Asia, spanning technology, security, sustainability, and talent development.
