Giant Delight Returns: Heartland Singapore Transforms with Massive Art Installations

Singapore’s heartlands are once again being transformed into open-air art galleries, as Giant Delight by the People’s Association (PA) returns for a new edition. This year’s large-scale art installations are even more ambitious, celebrating SG60 with creative works inspired by the local stories, histories, and communities that make each neighbourhood unique.

From Tampines North to Pioneer and Paya Lebar, residents and visitors can look forward to discovering colourful, larger-than-life artworks scattered across familiar public spaces.

A Celebration of Community Through Art

Building on the success of last year’s food-themed installations, this year’s Giant Delight SG60 Edition aims to reflect the diversity and shared identity of Singapore’s neighbourhoods. Each artwork is created through collaboration between local artists and residents, reinforcing the People’s Association’s ongoing mission to strengthen community bonds through creativity and participation.

Rather than traditional sculptures, these are prefabricated art structures that mix contemporary design with cultural storytelling. The installations are being unveiled progressively across the island through March 2026, with several already on display in neighbourhoods such as Tampines North, Admiralty, Yew Tee, and more.

According to Tan Swee Leng, Director of Arts & Culture at the People’s Association, this initiative highlights the spirit of co-creation:

“The Giant Delight SG60 Edition continues to expand across the island, with many of these installations already on display in the neighbourhoods and others to be unveiled in the coming weeks. Every Giant Delight stands as a testament to co-creation, bringing neighbours and artists together to transform shared memories into living works of art.”

Spotlight on Key Giant Delight Installations

Each installation in this year’s Giant Delight series captures the unique character of its community — whether it’s the natural beauty of the heartlands, the vibrancy of urban spaces, or the memories of Singapore’s early kampung life.

Here are some of the highlights you can explore right now:

Voices of Woodlands: Past, Present & Beyond

Location: 580 Woodlands Drive 16, Vista Park, Singapore 730580

Led by local artist Kelvin Seah, this installation pays tribute to Sembawang’s coastal heritage. Through an evocative series of murals and architectural elements, Voices of Woodlands traces the evolution of the community — from its days as a humble waterfront kampung to its transformation into a thriving modern neighbourhood.

Visitors will find themselves immersed in a visual journey that celebrates the resilience of residents and the enduring spirit of the north.

Taman Jurong: A Town in Nature, Nature in a Town

Location: Open space near Lakeside MRT Station

In Taman Jurong, artist Lim Jia Ren explores the symbiotic relationship between urban life and the natural environment. The installation, A Town in Nature, Nature in a Town, features organic shapes and textures that echo the lush greenery surrounding Jurong Lake Gardens.

The artwork invites visitors to pause and appreciate how nature continues to coexist harmoniously within one of Singapore’s most dynamic residential areas.

It’s a Good Place

Location: Tampines North

In the eastern region, artist Esther Ng draws inspiration from Tampines’ identity as one of Singapore’s pioneering eco-towns. Her installation, It’s a Good Place, is a celebration of sustainability, greenery, and the district’s extensive cycling networks.

Adding a nostalgic twist, the installation features a design element inspired by the iconic TV test pattern mural that once adorned an HDB block in the estate — a subtle nod to Tampines’ history and community pride.

Connecting Art and Heartlands

What makes Giant Delight truly special is not just its visual scale, but the stories and participation behind each work. Residents were involved in brainstorming sessions, sharing ideas about what makes their neighbourhoods special. These local narratives then inspired the final installations, blending professional artistry with heartfelt community memories.

By bringing art directly into the heartlands — away from the traditional confines of museums or galleries — People’s Association ensures that every resident, from children to seniors, can enjoy and take pride in the beauty of public art.

A Living Canvas for SG60

As Singapore approaches its 60th year of independence, Giant Delight serves as both a creative celebration and a reflection of how far the nation has come. Each installation represents a different voice, perspective, and memory — collectively painting a picture of what it means to call Singapore home.

The initiative not only brightens neighbourhood spaces but also reminds everyone of the power of art to connect generations, inspire reflection, and strengthen bonds among residents.

Visit the Installations Across Singapore

The 20 Giant Delight artworks will continue to roll out progressively until March 2026, with new pieces being unveiled in estates such as Pioneer, Yishun, Paya Lebar, and more.

Residents are encouraged to explore these installations, take photos, and share their experiences on social media — turning each visit into part of Singapore’s collective celebration of creativity and community.

Whether you’re revisiting childhood memories in the heartlands or discovering new stories hidden in your neighbourhood, Giant Delight offers a fresh perspective on what it means to live, grow, and create together in Singapore.
