SG60 National Day Concert at Gardens by the Bay Draws 35,000 Visitors

SINGAPORE – The Gardens by the Bay and Mediacorp National Day Concert 2025 brought together nearly 35,000 attendees on Sunday, August 3, for an evening of music, memories, and national pride. The concert, held at The Meadow, celebrated Singapore’s 60th birthday with the theme “Ties That Bloom”, uniting generations through heartfelt performances and iconic songs.

Celebrating SG60 with Music and Community

The seventh edition of the National Day Concert was a highlight of the SG60 celebrations. Hosted by Gurmit Singh, Yasminne Cheng, Zhin Sadali, and Nithiyia Rao, the event embraced its theme by emphasizing community spirit and shared heritage.

The evening opened with Hady Mirza performing Ties That Bloom, this year’s National Day Concert theme song. He was later joined by Kit Chan and Charlie Lim, who performed Here We Are, the official theme song of NDP 2025. These musical moments set the tone for a night of togetherness and celebration.

Emotional Performances and Nostalgic Highlights

One of the most memorable segments was Kit Chan’s heartfelt rendition of Home, a song that has long been synonymous with Singaporean pride. The performance was accompanied by deaf interpreter Faaiqah Alkaff, creating a powerful moment of inclusivity that resonated with the audience.

The concert also featured special reunions and family collaborations. Sisters Tay Kewei and Tay Kexin performed Hopelessly Devoted To You, marking their first duet in over 15 years. Another family highlight came from Rahimah Rahim, her sister Rozie Rahim, and granddaughter ALY, who lit up the stage with an energetic version of I’m So Excited.

A Star-Studded Evening of Local Talent

The SG60 concert lineup reflected the diversity and vibrancy of Singapore’s music scene.

  • Shazza joined a cappella group Studio 33B to deliver fresh harmonies.
  • Alemay Fernandez brought a touch of jazz sophistication to the night.
  • Taufik Batisah, Singapore’s first Singapore Idol, serenaded the crowd with nostalgic tunes.
  • Yung Raja added a burst of energy with his signature rap performance.

Each act brought a unique flavor to the celebration, demonstrating the strength and versatility of local talent.

A National Moment of Unity

The evening built toward a patriotic and unifying finale. President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Ms Jane Ittogi led the crowd in a mass recitation of the National Pledge, a moment that captured the spirit of SG60.

As the pledge concluded, fireworks lit up the Marina Bay skyline, signaling the start of an all-artistes medley of National Day classics. Songs like Where I Belong, Stand Up for Singapore, and We Are Singapore echoed through the night, inviting the crowd to sing along and celebrate their shared heritage.
