Wicked’s Stars Bring Hollywood Magic to Singapore

In a video announcement posted by film distributor UIP Singapore on October 10, Cynthia Erivo shared her excitement, saying, “We’re headed your way Singapore. Get ready for something truly magical.” Her co-star Ariana Grande added, “We can’t wait to see you.”

Singapore’s inclusion in the global promotional tour is a major moment for local fans. Other cities on the tour include São Paulo, Paris, London, and New York, placing the Lion City among some of the world’s most iconic destinations for film premieres.

According to Ms. Lee Shi Ruh, Chief Executive Officer of Resorts World Sentosa, the event reflects Singapore’s growing reputation as a destination for world-class entertainment.

“Universal Studios Singapore and Resorts World Sentosa are thrilled to welcome Wicked: For Good, one of the world’s biggest cinematic events, to Singapore,” she said. “Bringing together the cinematic glamour of Hollywood and the immersive world of Universal Studios Singapore, this event stands as a testament to RWS as a premier destination for unforgettable moments.”

About “Wicked: For Good” – The Magic Continues

Set to open in Singapore cinemas on November 20, Wicked: For Good is the sequel to the 2024 hit film “Wicked”, which grossed over US$756 million worldwide and won two Academy Awards earlier this year.

Based on the beloved 2003 Broadway musical, Wicked: For Good revisits the magical world of Oz — both before and after the arrival of Dorothy Gale. It follows the intertwined fates of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), the misunderstood green witch, and Glinda (Ariana Grande), the sparkling and ambitious sorceress.

The film explores their friendship, rivalry, and ultimate transformation into the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, respectively.

Inside the Story: Friendship, Power, and Redemption

In this new chapter, Elphaba has become a fugitive, hiding deep within the Ozian forest as she continues her fight for the rights of silenced animals and seeks to expose the dark truths behind The Wizard (played by Jeff Goldblum).

Meanwhile, Glinda, now under the mentorship of Madame Morrible (played by Michelle Yeoh), embraces her public role as the radiant symbol of peace and happiness in Oz.

But behind the glitter and perfection, Glinda struggles with her loyalty and love — especially as she prepares to marry Prince Fiyero, portrayed by Jonathan Bailey, in a lavish Ozian wedding that will captivate audiences.

The movie’s grand visuals, emotional storytelling, and powerful musical performances promise to deliver another unforgettable cinematic experience for fans around the world.

Wicked’s Cinematic Legacy

When Wicked premiered in 2024, it became an international phenomenon, praised for its emotional depth, elaborate set designs, and reimagined soundtrack. The film received ten Academy Award nominations, winning Best Costume Design and Best Production Design, cementing its place as one of the most successful movie musicals of the decade.

With Wicked: For Good, director Jon M. Chu continues to build on that legacy — blending fantasy, friendship, and moral complexity into a cinematic experience that resonates with audiences of all ages.

A Night of Magic Awaits in Singapore

Singapore fans are in for an enchanting evening when the cast of Wicked: For Good steps onto the yellow carpet at Universal Studios Singapore. From live appearances by the film’s stars to the exclusive premiere screening, the event promises to be one of the most glamorous nights of the year.

As Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo bring the spirit of Oz to life in Singapore, audiences can expect a celebration filled with music, emotion, and movie magic — a night where dreams, quite literally, come true.

The Asia-Pacific premiere takes place on November 13, 2025, followed by the film’s nationwide release on November 20.
